Disney Twist Villain Battle Royale VS Prediction Blog
“I don't want to pretend I'm any cooler or smarter than I am.” - M. Night Shyamalan
Hans Westergaard, the duplicitous prince of the Southern Isles from Frozen
Dawn Bellwether, the assistant mayor with prejudiced ambitions from Zootopia
Robert Callaghan, the roboticist turned violent supervillain from Big Hero 6
The many animated films under the Walt Disney umbrella have had many iconic villains throughout the years, which have come in all shapes and sizes. But not all of their villains make their intentions clear from the outset. Some instead initially seem like allies to the heroes, only to end up revealing their true intentions later as a shocking reveal no one sees coming. Even if this hasn’t led to them having as much time to be villains on screen, these three still have had a memorable legacy in those who have seen their plots in action, for better or worse. But if these three were to end up fighting each other, who would end up coming out on top?
Before We Begin
Now for all of these 3, the main focus for them will be on their respective individual series, which includes the original films, shorts, tv series, books, and any other media within their individual franchises. The more complicated bit is how to handle crossover media, as all three have had sporadic appearances in the various cross company crossovers that Disney has made. For the sake of adding more to the discussion on this blog, any equipment, abilities, or direct feats from these will be included, but this will not be including cross scaling to other series within these crossovers, as that would make this far more convoluted and would ultimately make any stat discussion irrelevant since they would all end up scaling to the same sources and each other anyways.
Also to clarify why it’s this lineup specifically, as there are plenty of options, that’s mainly because these are the main three who were in the center of the discussion about Disney having twist villains, thanks to their movies coming out right after each other. I didn’t want to include any Pixar villains here as while some of them, namely Ernesto and Screenslaver, were in movies that released around the time and were definitely part of the conversation with this trope’s overuse, that’s bringing in a different company and I didn’t want to bloat the scope of this too much. There are also other Disney Villains who could also fit this royale, mainly including King Candy, but as they are more loose examples of this trope and aren’t typically lumped in with discussions with these three, I’m also discounting them.
Background
Prince Hans
“Oh, Anna. If only there was someone out there who loved you.”
In the kingdom of Arendelle, their Princess Elsa was getting ready to be crowned as the new queen of the land, after her parents left her and her sister Anna alone due to dying. Though the sisters were close when they were younger, Elsa would end up pushing Anna away as they grew up due to dealing with ice powers she couldn’t control. This led to Anna feeling isolated, and eventually she’d wish for a dashing prince to give her a fairytale romance. This would end up coming true when Prince Hans of the Southern Isles would meet her, and the two would quickly form a romantic bond, with her agreeing to marry him despite only meeting him that day.
However, Elsa wasn’t as receptive to this, ultimately ending up revealing her ice powers to the world and accidentally causing an eternal winter. Hans would stay back in Arendelle while Anna went into the mountains to try and get her sister to end the winter. Unfortunately, things didn’t go well, and Anna accidentally ended up getting some ice magic to her heart, something that would kill her without an act of true love. So of course she’d quickly return to Arendelle to reunite with Hans. But it turns out it wouldn’t be that simple…
Because surprise! Turns out Hans was actually a machiavellian sociopath who was only faking his romantic interest in her. As he was the youngest of thirteen sons, he knew he wouldn’t get the chance to rule over his own kingdom legitimately, so he decided to go to Arendelle to take the crown himself, and with the queen having seemingly killed the princess, he was prepared to swoop in and take the throne uncontested. However, thanks to Elsa managing to escape and Anna preventing her death with a real act of true love, Hans’ plot would get blown away as he’d return to his home disgraced.
Bellwether
“Fear always works! And I'll dart every predator in Zootopia to keep it that way.”
Welcome to Zootopia. In a world where animals ended up evolving into anthropomorphic ones, this is a city where many species live in harmony. Though it’s still one full of potential danger, as the rabbit Judy Hopps would learn on the job as a new police officer. There had been a series of mysterious disappearances of predators, but she’d be on the case to find them with the help of the street smart con-fox Nick Wilde. With the help of other animals, like the mayor assistant Dawn Bellwether, they’d eventually find out the missing predators had unexpectedly gone feral and attacked people, before getting kidnapped by some wolves under orders of Zootopia’s mayor.
The two would bring this to light and arrest the mayor, but the idea of predators turning feral for no reason led to public distrust, something that didn’t sit right with Judy. Eventually, she’d find out that there was another plot that was using Night Howler darts to make the predators go feral, which had gone unknown due to the mayor’s attempt of dealing with it. She and Nick would barely manage to dodge the perpetrators, before managing to get some evidence of the plot. They’d then end up meeting with Bellwether, who was now the mayor, but the truth wouldn’t be as easy to uncover…
Because surprise! Turns out Bellwether was secretly the mastermind of the plot the whole time, wanting to build public distrust against predators so she could rise to power, as she was tired of being looked down on by others. She’d then try to use the Night Howlers to make Nick kill Judy in a feral rage, and ensure the truth was covered up forever. But this was a trap Nick and Judy set up to get her confession on tape, therefore exposing her plot and sending her to jail.
Callaghan
In the city of San Fransokyo, a boy named Hiro had been stuck in a rut. While he was a brilliant roboticist, he spent much of his time on illegal robot fights, much to the disappointment of his older brother, Tadeshi. Hiro would eventually end up getting encouraged to put his efforts towards joining his brother’s technical institute, after seeing how it let Tadeshi make creations like the healthcare robot Baymax, and with some encouragement from the Institute’s professor Robert Callaghan, he’d develop a revolutionary technology known as the microbots. However, the night he presented them, tragedy struck, as a fire in the expo hall ended up seemingly taking the lives of Tadeshi and Callaghan.
Hiro was distraught by this, but would end up finding out that his technology had somehow survived the fire, and was now in the hands of a mysterious supervillain known as Yokai. Thinking he was the one who was responsible for his brother’s death, he’d end up making his brother’s robot into a battle robot to help take him down, and with some help from his brother’s friends, they’d end up forming a superhero team to try and take him down. They’d eventually end up finding him, but he proved himself to be a fearsome enemy for more than one reason…
Because surprise! Turns out this masked guy was the not actually dead Callaghan, who had taken the microbots for himself after starting the fire. He had similarly lost someone close to him, as his daughter was seemingly killed in a test of teleportation technology. So he’d have taken the microbots to get revenge on the man responsible for this experiment by destroying his company. Thankfully, Hiro wasn’t as blinded by his grief, and the team managed to stop his plot, even managing to rescue his daughter from her seeming death, leaving him with nothing but his regrets as he was brought away to jail.
Intelligence & Skill
Prince Hans
Hans is a fairly intelligent schemer. He had originally come to Arendelle to try and marry Elsa, only to pivot into starting a relationship with Anna upon realizing how much easier she would be to manipulate. The Frozen Heart novelization reveals a bit more of his plotting. Not only had he spent three years before coming to Arendelle researching the land to figure out the best way to take control of it, and he also was able to easily talk his way around other diplomats who tried to take control from him. Though he’s also shown some more direct combat skill, as he’s been well trained in swordsmanship, and was able to fight and take down the giant snow monster Marshmallow.
Bellwether
Bellwether is of course a fairly intelligent schemer, having put together a complicated conspiracy to make predators be seen as evil to help her rise to power as the mayor. She was fairly assuming, managing to point Nick and Judy into believing the mayor was the mastermind, and she even managed to almost silence them and get away with it. Later, during the events of the Zootopia: Hot Pursuit ride, she managed to organize a prison escape with her and her goons, during which they were able to outpace the ZPD during a city wide chase.
Callaghan
Robert Callaghan is very skilled as a roboticist, having been interested in it since he was young and having earned multiple awards throughout his life, and by the time of the movie’s events he had become a well respected figure in his field. And Hiro’s microbots were even made using his own technology. After taking them, he’d show himself to be a fairly skilled villain. Not only was he able to keep his movements under wraps from the authorities, he was able to keep up in several fights with the titular squad, who are all prodigies in science themselves.
Equipment
Prince Hans
Sword
Hans’ main weapon of choice in combat is his sword. It sure is sharp and can stab things.
Crossbow
While Hans only briefly had his hands on a crossbow in the movie, in the novel Conceal, Don’t Feel he showed he has his own which he used to threaten Elsa.
Magic Urn
In Once Upon A Time, this is an urn used by Anna and Elsa’s family as a failsafe for if their ice powers grow out of control, and which Hans learned about and briefly took for himself as part of his plot to take over Arendelle. This can be used to seal a magic user within itself until they’re released again, which is done by turning them into a weird goop. While Elsa eventually broke out of it on her own, it took her about 30 years to do so, meaning if someone else got trapped they’d be going nowhere fast.
Disney Speedstorm Equipment
Hans is a playable racer in this game. Beyond giving him access to a racecar and a snazzy racing suit, he’s able to use various items when racing.
Bellwether
Night Howler Dart Gun
At the center of Bellwether’s conspiracy are these dart guns that inject a special concoction. Night Howlers are special flowers in the world which contain toxins that have adverse effects on a mammal’s mental state, turning them into mindless savages who lash out at anyone who tries to approach them. These seem to take effect within seconds, though it does seem to need to make direct skin contact to take effect.
Snowmobile
(Apologies for the quality, as this is from a theme park ride, I do not have clearer footage) In the Zootopia: Hot Pursuit ride at Shanghai Disneyland, to help get away from the cops in the snowy sector, she and the rams used these.
Motorcycle
Also in Hot Pursuit, they later hijacked this motorcycle to escape in the city streets. It was fast enough to briefly race on the top of a tunnel.
Callaghan
Costume
His main outfit consists of a dark cloak and a kabuki mask to hide his identity, with the mask hiding the neurotransmitter he uses to control his microbots. Also it’s a really cool design.
Microbots
Originally created by Hiro, these are a set of nanobots that Callghan was able to take for his own purposes. Callghan can directly control them by thought with a neurotransmitter, which allows them to form into various shapes. They can even take commands if you’re asleep by using your unconscious thoughts. They can be used to attack by forming spikes, slam around or toss objects, grab and restrain people, assemble objects, form tunnels to redirect cars, and form platforms to move around with, though that’s hardly the limit. In the manga, Callaghan was also able to use them to drain electricity from the city, and in Disney Infinity he could summon them to form big microbots that act as obstacles during races. Others have also shown good versatility with these Microbots, as in Disney Heroes Battle Mode Hiro used them to form pillars that can stun enemies, and in Kingdom Hearts 3 Sora was able to weaponize them against the Heartless with his Nano Gear keyblade.
Project Silent Sparrow
Originally made as part of an experiment in teleportation, though it unfortunately went wrong and ended up stranding his daughter on the other side. As such, he’d opt to use it more destructively. This portal is able to suck things up, with its pull being strong enough to shatter a building, and anything sent through ends up stuck in an alternate dimension with no gravity. And of course if the portal is shut off, anyone put in it will be stuck there.
Electric Barrier
In the manga, he has a device that was able to create an electric barrier that shocked people if they got too close, though Hiro was able to smash through it with enough force.
Hoverboard
In the short lived Yokai's Revenge stage show at Disneyland Paris, he initially comes out riding one of these. Maybe it’s meant to be showing him moving around with microbots canonically, but either way it does not look as intimidating as he clearly thinks it does.
Laser Projector Box
Also in that show, he ends up getting access to this weird box thing. I have no real idea what it’s supposed to be, but he was able to use it as a weird lightsaber and to trap the heroes in laser boxes they seemed unable to break out of until Baymax randomly showed up and somehow freed them all while scaring him off. Yeah, I don’t know either.
Abilities
Prince Hans
Broadway Force
Like any Disney Prince, Hans is more than familiar with the idea of starting spontaneous musical numbers. Though whether or not that’s a canon element of the series is fairly questionable.
Immersion
In Once Upon A Studio, like the others in the short, he was able to come out of painting for a big group photo. Though it did take him a bit due to Elsa freezing him.
Sköll
During the events of Sora’s visit to Arendelle in Kingdom Hearts 3, the darkness in Hans’ heart would end up spawning a Heartless. Heartless are the recurring enemies of the Kingdom Hearts series who seek to steal other people’s hearts, and while they lack emotion and intelligence, they can be deadly opponents to face. This dark wolf, named after the Norse wolf more commonly known as Fenrir, is an Emblem Heartless, making him one of the stronger ones, and it shows quite a few abilities to worry about.
Pocket Reality Creation / BFR - Was able to pull Sora and his party into an alternate plane to do battle in
Darkness Manipulation - Can launch dark energy blasts and has a perpetual dark aura
Claws - Can use these to swipe at you
Sound Manipulation - Can howl hard enough to knock back foes
Summoning - He can summon smaller wolf head Heartless to attack foes
Ice Manipulation - Created a massive dark ice ball that threatened to crush Sora’s party
Flight - His ass is NOT touching the ground!
Sköll also should be capable of the general abilities Heartless have.
Self Sustenance / Immortality - Heartless lack general biological needs and don’t age.
Corruption / Existence Erasure - By stealing hearts, they can make others into Heartless, erasing their physical body in the process
Death Manipulation - Heartless can passively kill plants just by getting close to them
Intangibility - Without a Keyblade, Heartless can just phase through conventional attacks
Resurrection - Unless they’re defeated with a Keyblade, Heartless will eventually reform if destroyed
Resistances
Cold - Was fine running out in the middle of a violent blizzard. In Once Upon A Studio, he got completely frozen by Elsa and managed to get out offscreen for the big group photo at the end.
Bellwether
Heroes Battle Mode Abilities
As a playable unit in this game, she has access to several abilities to be used in combat
Callaghan
Sorcerer’s Arena Abilities
In this game, Callaghan acts as a playable unit, giving him several abilities to use in combat.
Explosion Creation
In the manga, at one point he just randomly exploded strong enough to send Hiro and Baymax flying through a window. It’s never really explained how he did this, nor is it ever established that this was from a robotic duplicate or something, so yeah the implication here is that he just straight up made and tanked this explosion somehow. Weird.
Smoke Creation
In the stage show, he was seemingly able to summon smoke on the ground before his entrance for dramatic effect and not a lot else.
Resistances
Fire - Microbots protected him from an explosion, and could block Fred’s fire breath
Support
Prince Hans
Sitron
This is his trusty steed, which sure is a horse with not a lot to talk about.
Soldiers
Hans has also been shown to have backup in the form of guards armed with various medieval weapons. Not much of note with them either.
Bellwether
Rams
To help with her plotting, Bellwether employed several ram goons, of which we’ve seen her to have 6 in total. There’s not a lot to say about them individually, aside from one of them, Doug, being the scientist who synthesized the Night Howler poison, and two of them being Breaking Bad references, which is funny.
Callaghan
Microbot Constructs
In the manga, the microbots were shown to be able to form into building sized monsters that could wreak havoc. Callaghan was shown to be able to make them into the above giant spider robots, and earlier they were able to form into a T-Rex and a Gorilla.
Ninjas
In the stage show, these 2 guys randomly show up at one point, seemingly accompanying him. Their existence is completely unexplained and they don’t really accomplish much besides doing more weird laser stuff before disappearing with no elaboration. I can’t imagine why this show wasn’t a more permanent feature of the parks.

Scaling
Prince Hans
Elsa and Ingrid
First off, yeah obviously Hans has no business scaling to Elsa himself, as unlike most characters there isn’t much reason to assume Elsa scales to her attack potency in terms of her own durability. However, there are several of his capabilities which are treated as a comparable threat to her, most notably with the Magic Urn and Sköll. As such, it is important to establish how strong she is to discuss how powerful these options are.
As for Ingrid? Well, to make a long story short, in Once Upon A Time she’s Elsa and Anna’s aunt who has stronger ice powers and was trapped in the urn until Hans inadvertently released her. This means she also has some notable feats to go over, to further establish how strong the entities that the urn can seal are.
Main Continuity (Sköll Scaling)
Elsa was able to block a crossbow bolt (85.344 - 121.92 m/s)
Elsa made a big ice wall that stopped Arendelle from being flooded (87.017 Kilotons)
Elsa made a blizzard that covered all of Arendelle (8.62 Gigatons)
Once Upon A Time (Urn Scaling)
Elsa made a big ice wall surrounding Storybrooke, which she later dispelled
Ingrid conjured a thunderstorm (11.68 Megatons)
Ingrid completely froze over everything in Arendelle (2.2 - 349.7 Teratons)
Via various scaling chains, Ingrid should scale to:
Regina, who created the town of Storybrooke
Poseidon's Trident, which can control the seas (81.5 Gigatons - 2.2 Teratons)
Bellwether
Judy & Nick
Bellwether and her goons have been shown to be able to keep pace with Judy and Nick at plenty of points, indicating they should scale to their notable feats.
Judy caught a giant donut before it crushed a bystander (60.521 m/s)
Judy booted Nick’s stroller faster than he could react (109.595 m/s)
Nick could run a good distance in the time it took a door to open
Callaghan
Big Hero 6
Yokai was able to keep up with the titular Super Hero squad at several points throughout the story. While the group did later get upgrades that he likely shouldn’t scale to, he should still be able to scale to the group’s base capabilities, given the events of the film are canonically not too far away from the events of the TV series and other media.
Unarmored Baymax cushioned the impact of this fall (16.821 Kilojoules)
Baymax blasted apart a chunk of concrete (0.029 - 0.26 Tons)
The team survived this explosion caused by Baymax's rocket fist (0.151 Tons)
The team was able to defeat Baron Von Streamer, who survived a missile barrage explosion that displaced a bunch of water (366.66 Kilotons)
Baymax caught up to a guy on a jetpack that got a headstart on flying through the clouds
Baymax could fly fast enough to quickly go across San Fransokyo’s bay (Mach 1.83)
Baymax was able to fire a beam that instantly hit the clouds before guiding a lightning strike down (Mach 1.78 - 46.65)
Wasabi was able to dodge and block High Voltage’s electric attacks
Hiro, Baymax, and Go-Go dodged electric blasts underwater (0.11 c)
The team could keep up with attacks from Mechadama, who weaponizes photons (Light Speed)
Weaknesses
Prince Hans
While Hans has been shown to be a skilled combatant if needed, he prefers being more of a schemer, as he dislikes violence if it’s unnecessary due to his brothers. Speaking of which, his upbringing also left him with a bit of an inferiority complex, making him act impulsively if he thinks it can bring him to power faster.
Bellwether
Bellwether definitely isn’t a skilled fighter, as a lot of her plotting was in the background and she’d physically far from imposing herself. She’s also fairly overconfident when she thinks she has the upper hand, going on a long monologue instead of going for faster methods of ending foes, which left her open to getting hustled.
Callaghan
Callaghan is hardly perfect on his own, as his grief has made him somewhat blind to reason and can make him lash out and act irrationally when aggravated. And while the microbots can be a dangerous weapon, they have some limitations. Not only does Callghan need to keep the neurotransmitter on to control them at all, but they’re a finite resource, meaning removing them can lead to him running out of options, and they do seem to be relatively weak in terms of density, meaning they can get smashed or sliced apart to forcibly separate them.

Verdict
Stats
All three of these guys don’t exactly have a lot of feats to talk about. But just looking at where their scaling lines up, their order in this category was fairly clear cut. Bellwether definitely had the lowest feats here, as she is from the most grounded of these worlds physically speaking. The best feat she could scale to would be her rams being able to dent a metal door, which clocked in at 667.518 Kilojoules. Decently high into wall level, but even her opponent’s direct feats were more than enough to blow this out of the water. Speaking of which, Hans does take second normally, as his best feat of surviving Elsa’s intercontinental snowball could clock in at 23.308 Tons, getting him near the low end of the City Block tier and over 14 thousand times stronger than the rams. Callaghan, meanwhile, can definitely take first, as even just with direct feats his ability to drain electricity from the city clocked in at 748.444 Tons, which was higher into the city block tier, and made him over thirty times stronger at the lowest, which isn’t even accounting for his higher scaling. But Hans did have access to a level of power beyond him with Sköll, who can hit city to mountain level with his creation of an ice ball at 22.989 Megatons - 3.899 Gigatons, as well as collapsing his battlefield at 642.9 Megatons. Callaghan at best could scale to Baron Von Streamer’s survival of his city busting rockets at 19.323 Megatons, and while this was only slightly lower than the low end of the ice ball creation, the other ends would make Sköll 33 - 201 times stronger than Callaghan. And this could even get higher if you scale the wolf to Elsa, whose blizzard creation of 8.62 Gigatons could buff the gap up to 446 times stronger.
As for speed, Bellwether similarly comes up short. She did have a decent amount of subsonic speed feats to scale to, with the best being Judy’s stroller booting at 109.595 m/s, but for context that would only equate to about a third the speed of sound. Not only could Hans' scaling to crossbow timers keep up with this range and Callghan keeping up with characters who can move at mach speeds exceed it, but both of their best speed feats blow her scaling out of the water. Hans’ best feat in this regard would, again, be Elsa’s snowball, which he was able to briefly react to, though not fast enough to dodge it. This means he should be downscaling its Mach 396.224 speeds, which makes him literally over a thousand times faster than her. Quite impressive, but not only could Callaghan compare to this range by scaling to a lighting strike, the events of the Big Hero 6 series lets him compare to the team dodging various attacks at relativistic speeds, whether that be keeping up with an enemy that can weaponize photons or dodging electricity underwater, the latter of which clocked in at 0.11 c, which makes Callghan over 242 times faster than Hans at the bare minimum. And Sköll doesn’t really change this gap, as he doesn’t really have any impressive speed feats to be given without going into cross scaling with other feats in the Kingdom Hearts series, which are of course barred from this discussion.
So with both stat categories, the order goes Bellwether < Hans < Callaghan. Sköll can take the edge in power from Callaghan, but that isn’t something Hans can scale to on his own.
Arsenal & Abilities
Now all three of them had plenty of capabilities to go over, and as given how drastically different each of their worlds are, there wasn’t a whole lot of overlap. To briefly discuss what they all have, they did have pretty identical levels of general mobility. Hans had his Speedstorm race car, Bellwether had her Hot Pursuit vehicles, and Callaghan had the speed to personally do car chases, as well as keeping up with speedy guys like Baymax and Go-Go, so if the battle turned to a car chase they’d all be able to easily keep up with each other. Another front that they all had was support, and while Bellwether’s rams likely had a bit of edge over Hans’ soldiers due to their better numbers and potentially tech, as well as Callaghan’s ninjas for actually doing things, ultimately both of them were really screwed against Callaghan’s microbot constructs, as building sized robots wreaking havoc was a bit out of all their pay grade. This does lead into Callghan’s biggest advantage here in that the microbots were definitely a far more deadly and versatile weapon than anything the others had. If this was just looking at their original movies, there would be no question Callaghan would easily win. But this is of course bringing in other material, which adds a bit more to this discussion.
…at least for Hans.
…yeah, not gonna bury the lead here, Bellwether is the easy last place in this category as well, as she really doesn’t have much that could realistically net her the win more times than not. To her credit, the Night Howler Darts were definitely a weapon to watch out for that could really screw up either of her opponents if they hypothetically got hit by it, since humans are still mammals who would be vulnerable to their enraging effects. But there was little chance of them actually being hit by it thanks to both having more than good enough reaction speeds to dodge a basic dart. Heroes Battle Mode did also give her the ability to fire darts that can charm foes which also can’t be dodged in Foe Frenzy, but not only are these a temporary effect and the damage at the end wouldn’t be enough to kill them on it’s own, the fact they get aimed at the foe with the highest attack meant they’d likely be fired at Callaghan, who could just block them from hitting him entirely by forming barriers with the microbots. Targeting Hans wouldn’t really work out much better for her, as his emotional state being compromised like that could very well lead to him falling into darkness and unleashing Sköll, whom she had no way of even harming, let alone defeating. Her ability to deal damage over time also wasn’t going to help her win the battle quickly enough to not be overwhelmed, and while she did have access to buffs that could let her play support with her rams, Callaghan’s own mobile game abilities hard countered this strategy, as being able to create Spires which can attack enemies who receive buffs meant that she would be ensuring he’d take them out before she could even attempt to swing the battle in her favor. That’s also assuming she’d get the chance to set up in the first place, as her far inferior stats meant that, realistically speaking, they could both easily take her out faster than she could react in a single hit, and she really doesn’t have a good way of slipping away from the fight to get any chance to do anything.
As for Hans, quite a few of his options would similarly be null against Callaghan. His sword and crossbow were likely not going to be effective at taking him out, his Speedstorm weapons in bomb and fire were both things the microbots have easily defended against, and abilities like broadway force and immersion were not really going to be that relevant. Though there were two particularly notable aces up his sleeves that weren’t as easy to discard. First off, there is the urn, as its ability to seal away enemies even stronger than Callaghan meant it could be a good way to end the fight on paper. However, there are a couple issues. First off, Hans hasn’t personally used the urn to seal away a foe. While he did plan to, he wasn’t able to due to Ingrid already being in it and getting unleashed when he tried. But even beyond that, he needs to get in close to actually use it, something that would be particularly difficult to do given Callghan’s sheer AOE capabilities, as well as defense options like the barrier. While his ability to temporarily turn invisible could give him a chance to sneak up on him, this would have to be the first thing he tried, as otherwise Callaghan would be able to recognise when he’s trying to do a sneak attack and promptly use his microbots to make an impenetrable defense.
Though, of course, the biggest ace in the hole that Hans could utilize was Sköll, as it could definitely quickly overpower Callaghan if given the chance. But likewise, there’s a lot of stuff to break down with that being likely. First off, this isn’t really a form or summon in the traditional sense, as a Heartless being formed requires some specific circumstances to bring in, so Hans can’t just use it to pull a Megumi, meaning it is fully likely for Callaghan to overwhelm him before it even has a chance to come out. It’s also a bit questionable if this should even count as an extension of Hans for a debate, since it being brought out requires Hans’ body to be destroyed and him to be completely corrupted beyond recognition. But even beyond that, Callaghan still had ways to take on the Heartless. First off, he still had a significant speed advantage over it, and outpacing it would be even easier considering the Heartless are mindless beasts acting on instinct. The fact Heartless are hard to harm without the use of a keyblade could also trip up other opponents, but thanks to the very game Sköll was in also showing that microbots can be used as an effective weapon against them by Sora, Callaghan could still likely keep back the wolf with them. This was especially useful, as while it was unlikely he could directly overpower Sköll, he did have two major ways to deal with the wolf.
First off, there’s the last major part of Callaghan’s arsenal that hasn’t been mentioned yet, Project Silent Sparrow. While sending them into it as a method of BFR was a bit unnecessary normally given his massive stat edge, even with Sköll this would still be a pretty effective way of removing it as a threat, and which Callaghan could likely do by either directly pushing it in or baiting it into going in itself. As Sköll has only ever traveled into his own pocket dimensions, meaning he lacks a method of going between dimensions back to the battle, if the portal got closed he’d definitely be stuck there for the conceivable future. The other method would of course be Hans’ urn. It being able to seal away magical entities even stronger than Sköll meant that Callghan could very well use it for himself to similarly trap the wolf away. And while he is from a world with no magic, I do think him figuring out it can be used like this is something he could reasonably do given how intelligent he is, especially given how likely it was for Hans to fail to use it to deal with him, which could clue him in that it can be used in such a way.
There were also some things Sköll could do that were worth some clarification. While his ability to move the battle into an alternate pocket reality could be bad news for Callghan given it might cut him off from his resources, there’s not much to suggest he couldn’t take some of the microbots in with him, as it would still be a pretty wide portal that could bring in things around him. That’s also assuming he couldn’t just straight up dodge the portal entirely, as Sora’s group only ended up in it because it being unleashed caught them off guard, so if Callaghan was in midair or on a tower of them he’d still have time to get loose. And while the Heartless stealing his heart to instantly kill him could be something to watch out for, this is typically a process that only happens on civilians who can’t fight back against the Heartless, as in plenty of points throughout the Kingdom Hearts series the other Disney characters you can fight alongside similarly don’t end up instantly dying the second a shadow guy appears. As Callghan was fully capable of interacting with the Heartless, he likely wouldn’t end up dying to this process without getting a chance to fight back. So while Sköll definitely was an enemy not to be taken lightly, Callaghan being able to either end the battle before he could be a threat or take care of him once he became a threat meant it wouldn’t be enough to let Hans win.
Tertiary Factors
Finally, in terms of general intelligence, Hans and Bellwether were roughly on par with each other, as both are intelligent schemers who could manipulate others pretty well. Though both were definitely well behind Callaghan in this regard due to him being a brilliant roboticist. And to cover one last category Bellwether is well behind in, there’s not much question she’s the least skilled of the three in terms of direct combat, since she’s mostly a plotter. Hans was second, as while he similarly tends to be more in the background, he at least has been confirmed to have been trained in combat and has some instances of fighting. But of course that was still behind Callaghan, who has just been in fights far more often than either of these two due to being from the most VS relevant of these series. And he was just the kind of fighter that neither of them had a shot at figuring out a gameplan for in time, given the lower tech levels of their worlds and how far more grounded the fights they have been in are, so the odds of them managing to figure out or take advantage of the microbots’ limitations were slim. And while Callaghan’s less stable personality could maybe leave him vulnerable to manipulation if they get the chance to figure him out, his very aggressive fighting style and tendency to forgo banter meant they had very low odds of getting anything to take advantage of before he takes them out.
Conclusion
Advantages:
Stronger and faster than Bellwether
Stronger than Callaghan as Sköll…
Had methods which could arguably take out Callaghan, like sealing or Sköll…
Equal in intellect and superior in battle experience to Bellwether…
Is a way more interesting character in the Frozen Heart novelization
Equal:
Mobility
Still a better villain than King Magnifico
Disadvantages:
…but far weaker than Callaghan normally and slower than him no matter what
…but Callaghan had ways to ensure they were unlikely to take him out in time
…but Callaghan exceeded him in both categories
Frozen overexposure
Advantages:
Dart gun could be an effective way to mess with her opponents…
HBM abilities give her a way to deal significant damage regardless of the power gap…
Arguably better support than Hans…
Likely tied with Hans for general intelligence…
From the best movie of the three
…I got nothing else, sorry
Equal:
Mobility
Still a better villain than King Magnifico
Disadvantages:
Is completely fucked stat wise.
No real answer to her opponent’s more broken capabilities.
…but her low stats mean realistically she’s not getting the chance to use either
…but they have no way of dealing with the Microbots
…but is significantly behind Callaghan generally and both in terms of combat experience
Racist and works for the government
William Borba
Does not have any extended media that gave her a glow up
Advantages:
Strongest of the three normally
Fastest of the three
Microbots were the best and more versatile weapon anyone had
Had a few methods of dealing with Sköll in spite of the power gap
Definitely the smartest of the three with the most skill in combat
The only one of the three with aura
Got a redemption arc in the show and manga
Equal:
Mobility
Still a better villain than King Magnifico
Disadvantages:
Weaker than Hans as Sköll
Potentially vulnerable to getting sealed or darted
Sköll would be inconvenient to deal with
This is certainly a debate with a lot more than you would think going on, as while Bellwether didn’t have a realistic way to win, Hans did have several tricks up his sleeve which could let him come out on top if given the chance. But ultimately, Callaghan’s superior stats, versatility, and intellect would be more than enough to end the ambitions of these other villains. Unfortunately for them, even if they tried everything, they’d be letting it all go to waste, as it would do them as much good as trying to kill an immortal.

Also happy April Fools
Yes, Chibi-Robo vs Olimar is still coming out, I am just in the middle of a break to help work on other blogs and deal with real life stuff, so I ended up making this to release on the backburner. But as a bit of a fun extra, I thought I'd reveal another upcoming match:
This was a very funny matchup. Great job, can't wait for both Olimir vs. Chibi and Angstrom vs. Spot.
ReplyDeleteDang, for an April Fools blog this was actually really cool to read. Already betted on Callaghan winning but wasn't expecting it to be as close as it was... against Hans at least.
